LITTLE MOUNT - A HOLYLAND FOR CHRISTIANS IN INDIA
When Jesus Christ called Thomas, a fisherman of Galilee to become His disciple, without any hesitation he followed Jesus. Thomas one of the twelve Apostles of Jesus came to India to preach the Gospel of God after the resurrection of Christ. He landed in Cranganore, a port in Malabar region in 52 A.D., preached the Good News of God and made the local people to adopt Christianity. He founded seven churches in that region and finally came to Mylapore.
Little Mount is the place where the Apostle lived and preached, in St Thomas Mount he was martyred and buried in Santhome. in all the above Little Mount is having a lot of historical evidences, proving that he was dwelling in that Mount.
A little cave said to have been his ideal shelter, hand impression and foot-print believed to have been left by the Apostle on the rocks when he was escaping from the murderers, a rock with blood stained cross used as an altar, miraculous spring made by the Apostle on the summit of the mount to quench the thirst of the people gathered to hear his preaching are the historical monuments still to be seen in this Little Mount.
